For the last 20 years, António Monteiro built and organised what must be one the the most beautiful Pecten collections in the world.

With over 4500 specimens, representing about 200 different species, his collection represents rather exhaustively this spectacular group of bivaves.

The challenge undertaken by António and Atoll Specimen Shells consisted in selecting and photographing 100 of the most outstanding specimens belonging to this remarkable collection. Naturally, the colours and patterns found in many species of Pectens made the selection particularly hard. Nevertheless, we did it at last!

So now all collectors and other interested persons will have the opportunity to examine this selection of some of the best specimens!
